Brisbane 2010 Polaroids

Jun. 14th, 2011 | 02:49 am

These are some Fuji Instax shots I took last year on my trip to visit my brother in Aus

View from Mount Tambourine

Just outside the house my brother stayed in then.

A small cemetery we happened to see while driving, and decided to stop and have a look.
Everything was so serene. Not one bit creepy!

Sunset in the city.

Boat ride to Moreton Island!

The beautiful Moreton Island. It was a whole stretch of sand and sea.

Shipwrecks at Moreton Island. Also a home for fish, corals and other sea things.
Snorkeled around the ship! :)

That's all folks!
More to come this July when I go back to Brisbane. Might road trip to Syd as well!

I just spent the last 3 hours youtubing all sorts of Photoshop tutorials! I thought I knew enough but there's so much to learn, and there are so many different ways of doing things! And hell, is CS5 amazing or what! :D

E-waste posters that tell a story. In real life, they are almost as tall as you are! They measure approx 25 x 143 cm each.

The posters are targeted toward children and teens, telling the story of how E-waste robots are made from recycling E-waste products, as well as revealing the characters' personalities. Basically saying that E-waste products should be recycled by being disposed of properly.

This was done as a collaboration with my friends Kelyn Lau and Chong Yikai.
We had to design products for a christian brand, All Things 828. So we came up with 10 main designs, which we later put into different products.

'All Things 828' wanted their products and designs to be based on the verse:
"Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life"
And they wanted the designs to repel from the traditional christian look, something more bad-ass yet still having a christian meaning behind it. We went to the polar opposite end, and did them tattoo-styled.

Each design has a specific meaning to it.

These are the designs before colouring.

After colouring. These were the final ten designs we used!

But we further tweaked the colours to give it a different feel altogether, just for fun.

And there you go, ten more girly, pastel-coloured designs.

This is the main product for All Things 828. They asked that one of the products be a pair of slippers for couples.

Since this is designed for couples, we have split the design in half and put it on each side of one slipper, so that when a couple stands together, the full image is shown. The words ‘mercy’ and ‘goodness’ are written on the heel of the slippers, symbolizing ‘mercy and goodness' following you as you walk.

These are our T-shirts.

One of our designs contain the whole verse that the collection is based on, so we decided to make that into a vinyl sticker.

We also put the designs into stickers as well as postcards!

Song:
Marvelous Things by Eisley

This is a six-layered craft cut from art card that translates a song into an illustration. The song’s lyrics put you in the setting of a magical forest, and it talks about the wonders of nature and life.

Song:
Brightly Wound by Eisley

An A3 sized cut-out based on a song that speaks of how one should always be a child at heart.

On a yellow backing.

On a blue one!

This is the final illustration!

For school, I did an online portfolio in the form of a flash website.
I had little animations in different places and on different pages.

It was tedious, but very satisfying at the end of it!

A paper-cutting based on an Adbusters article concerning consumerism.

A2 sized paper-cut stencil.

The image was then spray-painted onto the deck of a skateboard. And everyone had their skateboard decks displayed in school, at an exhibition called Culture Jam.

These are some magazine pages done with the experimentation of digital collaging, and mixing 2d illustrations with images. Putting together the 2D and 3D gives a bit of depth to the image.

We had a mini workshop in school where we tried out wood-carving, paper collaging and photography to make a magazine cover. '20/20' is the magazine name.

This was the piece of wood-carving I did for the workshop. My first attempt at wood carving!

From the wood block, I came up with a back cover.

This is a cover done through photography and some photoshop, just a simple picture of black objects.

And this, a paper collage!
